The NFDI-MatWerk AHoD 2026 workshop on Knowledge Graphs, presented from an MSE-KG developers’ perspective, focused on practical experiences and challenges in building and maintaining the Materials Science and Engineering Knowledge Graph (MSE-KG). The session highlighted how ontologies such as MWO and NFDIcore serve as the semantic backbone for integrating heterogeneous data sources into a unified, interoperable graph, enabling structured discovery and reuse of materials data. From a developer viewpoint, particular emphasis was placed on data ingestion pipelines, ontology alignment, and the use of technologies like RDF and SPARQL to support scalable, FAIR-compliant knowledge infrastructures, as well as on community-driven contributions and continuous evolution of the graph within the NFDI ecosystem.
